Software engineer accused of breaching public decency...

Dubai: A Filipino expatriate is facing jail and deportation for putting a offensive sticker on his car windshield.

The 30-year-old software engineer was accused of breaching public decency and possessing as well as promoting material in public describing a lewd act.

The sticker bearing a 'Kiss my ass' message was noticed by an Arab at a gas station who called the police after the Filipino refused to remove the sticker.

The Public Prosecution charged the Filipino with breaching public decency, possessing and promoting material in public that describes lewd acts.

The defendant's lawyers argued 'ass' had different meanings in English, including donkey, and he did not grasp the full import of the 'posterior' meaning, the Gulf News reported.

He also convinced the Court of Cassation that his client "posted the sticker as a joke, not knowing that what it means is perceived as a breach of public decency in the UAE."

The verdict is yet to come.
