BANGALORE: Ramamurthynagar is one of the few wards which has been recently added under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) city limits. However, this did not bring any good news to the people residing here. Especially the residents at Sir M V Nagar in Ramamurthynagar Kalkeri Main Road are surrounded by many civic woes ranging from lack of drinking water to dusty roads and unfinished drains. The residents of this neglected area are frustrated after their endless cries to the officials concerned went unheard. “A slew of promises are made, but no action is initiated ,” rued the Residents’ Welfare Association. The residents claim that despite the pipes being installed, there is no supply of water. They are also dissatisfied with the BWSSB’s (Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board) statement that most of the borewells have gone dry. As the summer continues to hit hard, the BWSSB promised to supply water through water tanks but they are yet to keep their word. The Association took further action by approaching the Assistant Executive Engineer who was posted to take care of the issues here, but that also turned out to be fruitless. The residents feel that the BBMP should share the blame for the dusty roads as there has been negligence on their part to finish the work they started. The unfinished roads on 1st and 2nd Block poses a problem to the commuters. One unattended transformer that is obstructing traffic at 8th Cross also worries many. Although the matter was reported to the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM), no action has been taken.Another issue which is plaguing this ward is the construction of a church at 8th Cross, whose foundation is filled with stagnant water harbouring mosquitoes and posing a threat to the health of the residents. According to the nine-point programme by the BBMP, collection of garbage, provisions for  clean drinking water, maintainance of the drainage system and sweeping the road are some of the services that they are supposed to deliver to the residents of Sir MV Nagar. The area corporator M Revanna, was unavailable for any comments.
