CHENNAI: Dancing for a cause, more than a 100 students from the Don Bosco Dance Club made their moves count on Saturday. The proceeds of the show, held in collaboration with John Britto’s Dance Company, will be used for building a state-of-the-art laboratory for a village school at Sagayathottam in Vellore. Perhaps a take on Endhiran’s Boom Boom Robo-da in the film, this event was titled simply, ‘DOBODA’(Don Bosco Dancing) and was a lot of fun right from the word go.John Britto, an alumnus of Don Bosco himself said, “DOBODA is slated to be an annual event with a different cause every year.” He added, “And this time, we have students of the school in Sagayathottam performing in the show as well.” Beginning with an impressive Kalaripayattu performance by John Britto’s senior dancers — picture high leaps in the air, a sword fight complete with brass shields for effect and a dramatic finish, there were several other routines that kept the parents and well-wishers impressed. Up next, a massive troupe of sixth and seventh standard students, all in orange jumpsuits hit the stage with a hip hop-house mix. They may have been shorter than the previous group and first-timers on stage, but with oodles of attitude, these youngsters caught the crowd’s attention all the way. Undoubtedly the cutest sight of the show were the tiny tots, rocking imaginary cradles to Justin Bieber's popular song Baby.
