CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday directed the State Government to look into a representation dated August 22 this year of advocate R Veeramani of MKB Nagar and take appropriate decision with regard to the new Secretariat and Assembly buildings, as early as possible.A division bench comprising Justices D Murugesan and KK Sasidharan gave the direction on Friday while closing a public interest writ petition from Veeramani praying for a direction to complete the construction of the buildings and to use them for the purpose for which they were constructed. Senior counsel P Wilson had contended that the buildings were not at all suitable for setting up a hospital and a medical college. The requirements of a hospital and a medical college were totally different from those of the Assembly-cum-Secretariat complex, he added. When the matter came up on Friday, Advocate-General A Navaneethakrishnan submitted that the government had received petitioner’s representation dated August 22.Recording the submission and holding that no further adjudication was required, the Bench directed the government to look into the representation and take appropriate decision, as early as possible.
