Dileep Says Accused in Malayalam Actress Assault Case Threatening to Frame Him
Dileep's director friend received a call demanding that the actor pay Rs 1.5 crore or his name will be dragged in the case.

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Dileep and his director-friend Nardisha have alleged they are being blackmailed by the key accused in the kidnapping and sexual assault of an actress in a moving car in February.

Nardisha has filed a police complaint saying that he received a phone call from Vishnu, who is an aide of Sunil Kumar, the main accused in the case. Both are currently in jail. He said Vishnu demanded that Dileep pay Rs 1.5 crore to Kumar or else he will drag his name into the case.

Nardisha handed over a recording of the phone call to Dileep, who in turn, handed it over to the DGP, Kerala. The actor has demanded a thorough investigation in the case.

The director further said that the caller had claimed that some big names of the Malayalam film industry were behind the blackmail. However, he said he believes these claims to be completely false.

Sunil Kumar and six others had allegedly abducted a 30-year-old popular south Indian actress in Ernakulam while she was on her way back from a shooting location in Thrissur.

The group of men, who stopped her car after a chase, sexually assaulted her in the moving vehicle for a couple of hours.

The criminals allegedly took pictures and videos to blackmail her before letting her go. Kumar allegedly had links in the film industry and police is investigating the conspiracy angle in the case. The high-profile case had rocked Mollywood, with all actors, including from the Hindi film industry, questioning the safety of women in the state.
