Delhi Police assures all aid to constable's family
Tomar, who had received severe injuries in the rioting on Sunday, died in a hospital on Tuesday morning due to his injuries on his chest, neck and head.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police will provide all aid to the family of constable Subhash Chand Tomar who died after being badly beaten up during protests against the gang-rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapist, Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said on Tuesday.

"We are with the family of the constable and will provide them all kind of aid," he said at a press conference in New Delhi.

Tomar, who had received severe injuries in the rioting on Sunday, died in a hospital on Tuesday morning due to his injuries on his chest, neck and head.

He is survived by wife Amresh Devi, 40, two sons - Sonu, 18 and Deepak, 22 - and a daughter Jyoti, 24.

"We have decided to provide all kind of help to his family on compassionate grounds," said Neeraj Kumar.

The family of Tomar, who died 6.40 a.m. Tuesday, will be provided ex-gratia payment of Rs. 1,000,000, Axis bank insurance amount of Rs.500,000 and Delhi Police Welfare Fund (DPWF) amount of Rs. 300,000.

The commissioner also offered employment to one of the family members of the constable on compassionate ground and declared that all Delhi Police officers will contribute a day's salary to the family of the constable.

He also assured that liberal pension, gratuity, the Central Government Employee Scheme fund, and all the benefits of an on duty officer will be granted to the wife of the constable, Amresh Devi.

"Anyone who wants to help the family of Subhash Chand Tomar may send a crossed cheque, in the name of Amresh Devi, to the Additional Commissioner (Headquarters) MSO building, Delhi Police Headquarters. The people can directly deposit their donation in the name of Amresh Devi in her Punjab National Bank (Delhi's Dilshad Garden branch) account No.392700-0100161800," said Neeraj Kumar.

Tomar was cremated with full state honours Tuesday noon.
