New Delhi: The national capital is staring at a major water crisis because of Jat protesters who had blocked the Munak canal in Haryana.
To manage the situation, water supply are being rationed in Delhi and tankers are plying to provide water to several areas. The school have, meanwhile, been ordered to remain shut.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has pressed the panic button appealing to the Centre to get the canal reopened. The Supreme Court is hearing a plea by the Delhi government in the matter on Monday.
Appealing for speedy resolution of the crisis, Kejriwal tweeted, "We have completely run out of water. I appeal to the centre with folded hands to immediately intervene and get munak canal started in Haryana."

The main source of water for Delhi is the Munak Canal, which was blocked by Jat protesters. On a daily basis, 820 million gallons of potable water is produced, which has come down to 240 million gallons.
Seven water treatment plants have been closed as the water supply has dried up. West Delhi, North-West, Central, South and parts of North Delhi are the worst affected.
