BHUBANESWAR: Secretary-general of Indian Journalists Union (IJU) Devulapalli Amar and Press Council of India member K Amarnath have slammed the attempts of some disgruntled elements to organise a ‘fake and unauthorised’ plenary session of IJU in the City during December 17-18. Addressing the media, they said, the IJU had already held its plenary in Hyderabad last month and Chief Minister N Kiran Reddy inaugurated it. The valedictory function was graced by Governor ESL Narasimhan. During the plenary, Amar said, a former president of IJU Suresh Prasad Akhouri was expelled for anti-union activities. He was also restrained by a court to continue as president and having failed to secure the position, he has been trying to hold a fake plenary. However, overwhelming number of Orissa Union of Working Journalists are with IJU, not Suresh and his supporters.
