ALAPPUZHA: Kollam Crime Branch (CB), which has been probing the Shreya death case is planning to wind up its investigation.According to the CB, a narco-analysis test should be done on ACCEPT assistant-director Fr Mathukutty to prove the case. But Fr Mathukutty’s refusal to take the test has rendered the CB team unable to progress with the investigation, the CB sources told Express. However, the action council has moved a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking to monitor the investigation.  Though, the CB team led by DySP D Rajagopal had focussed on collecting evidence against Fr Mathukutty, they were unable to do so. According to sources, the CB team suspects Fr Mathukutty, who gave different statements to them during the probe. The CB had earlier filed a petition in the Alappuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to conduct the narco test on Fr Mathukutty after he tried to allegedly mislead the investigation team. Sources said though he had earlier expressed willingness to take the test, he opposed it in the court.  According to Supreme Court, the consent of the person should be taken before conducting any brain mapping or narco test. According to the CB, it has got concrete evidence against Fr Mathukutty but it is not enough to prove the case in the court. Twelve-year-old Shreya, daughter of Benny, Ezharaparayil, Kaithavana, was found dead on October 17, 2010 in a pond on the campus of ACCEPT, functioning under the Archdiocese of Changanassery. The Standard VII student came to ACCEPT along with her Sunday School classmates for attending a two-day camp organised by the Archdiocese. CB sources said that Shreya was killed when a person tried to misbehave with her.
