THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fate of CPM leaders P Sasi and V V Ramesan will be decided by the state secretariat meeting scheduled to be held here on Thursday. The recommendation of the state secretariat on the disciplinary action against these two leaders will be ratified by the state committee meeting scheduled for July 1 and 2. P Sasi, who was demoted to the branch from the state committee, has to face a review of the disciplinary action following the observation of the Central Committee that the punishment for Sasi was too light. An inquiry commission appointed by the state committee had found Sasi guilty of charges of moral turpitude. All indications are that the secretariat will expel Sasi from the party. Ramesan, who was removed from the primary membership of DYFI, also faces disciplinary action. The Kasargod district committee is learnt to have recommended his demotion to a lower committee. The state secretariat and state committee will finalise the decision. According to sources, there won’t be any strict punishment to Ramesan from the CPM in the line followed by the DYFI. Ramesan is likely to be retained in the party in a lower level. The crucial state panel meetings of the CPM will also finalise the schedule of organisational conferences. The branch elections will begin in September and the state conference is likely to be held in February, next year. As the state is hosting party congress in April, venues of both state conference and party congress need to be finalised. This edition of state panel meet is also likely to finalise the conference venues.
