New Delhi: Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) memorandum to re-consider the days alloted to the investigating agency for recording the statement of former Satyam CFO, Srinivas Vadlamani has been approved by the court.
SEBI had filed the memorandum in the Nampally Criminal Court of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier in the day, the court had given SEBI two days to record Vadlamani's statement as well as the statement of the two accused PriceWaterhouseCooper auditors, S Gopalakrishnan and Talluri Srinivas.
All three had allegedly colluded with former Satyam chairman Ramalinga Raju to fudge the company's accounts.
Though Vadlamani's statement was to be recorded on Wednesday, the SEBI counsel has requested the court to allot them Friday for the same instead. The counsel said the reason for the request in change in day was that SEBI had lost most of Wednesday going to court and thus was barely left with any time for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the court has dismissed the bail petitions of the Raju brothers as well as Vadlamani. The IT Department has been given permission to record Ramalinga Raju's statement February 21.
Last week, the CBI had taken over the Satyam case. CBI officials said that they are going into various aspects of the case and will soon register a case.
A multi-disciplinary team will be set up in Hyderabad to look into the case. A joint mechanism will be set up with various ministries to provide assistance in the case.
