WARANGAL/HYDERABAD: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was told to cancel his Rythu Porubata scheduled for Friday as his proposed tour has turned Warangal district into a war zone with the TRS and TDP cadres training guns at each other even as police forces are geared up to prevent any untoward incident.Warangal superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar said it would be better if Naidu cancelled his tour in view of the prevailing law and order situation. The SP said the police would not be responsible if any untoward incident occurred. However, the Telugu Desam Party office in Hyderabad said it did not receive any communication from Warangal SP and there was no change in the programme.Reacting to Rajesh Kumar’s comments, DGP Dinesh Reddy said it was not for the police to make such suggestions. The SP should concentrate on maintaining law and order instead of giving advice, he said. While the TRS leaders vowed to disrupt Naidu’s visit to Palakurthy Assembly constituency, the TDP cadre has declared that it would not allow TRS activists to venture anywhere near their party president.Anticipating trouble, the police took more than 2,000 Telangana activists into preventive custody in the last three days though in many instances, TRS activists entered into heated arguments with police for not showing any valid reasons.Telangana advocates approached the Warangal district court alleging that the activists were illegally detained by police. The court directed Warangal SP Rajesh Kumar to release all those who were arrested and appointed a commission to visit various police stations to ensure that no person was detained illegally.Meanwhile, police made unprecedented security arrangements and deployed more than 3,000 policemen to prevent untoward incidents.Under the supervision of the SP, the police teams comprising one additional SP, 12 DSPs, 44 CIs, 117 SIs and hundreds of constables and Home Guards have been deployed to ensure safe tour for Naidu. Police erected barricades on all roads leading to Palakurthy town and arranged heavy security on the 14-km stretch to enable Naidu to carry on his Porubata on foot.Naidu, who will arrive at Pembarthi on the district borders at 8 a.m., will launch his yatra at Lakshmammapalli in Palakurthy constituency at 9 a.m.TRS cadres are getting ready to obstruct the tour at different places.
