Cops lay trap, nab kidnappers

Alipiri police on Friday rescued a computer operator from the clutches of kidnappers and nabbed five of them within hours of the abduction.

Sampath Kumar (23) from Raghvendar Nagar, was kidnapped from the private firm where he worked near Municipal Park on Tirumala bypass Road in the morning. The kidnappers had claimed to be policemen in mufti and took him with them. When his colleagues notified Sampath’s family members, they rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint.

Alipiri CI Ramakrishna said Sampath’s family had lent Rs 45 lakh to one Ramakrishna from Kalakada in Chittoor district. But the latter did not repay the amount or the interest. Under pressure, a few days ago, Ramakrishna registered a piece of land in Brahminapattu village near Tirupati, in Sampath’s name.

However, the land actually belonged to one retired school principal Sudhakar Reddy, who had allowed Ramakrishna to use his land as a surety to start some business.

Police laid a trap at the Tirupati Rural Sub Registrar’s Office in MR Palle and nabbed five kidnappers
