HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress MPs have decided to resume their agitation for a Telangana state in Parliament on Monday despite the stern warning of Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee that they should either behave themselves or face the risk of being suspended from the House.
For four days after Parliament met for its winter session on Nov 22, the Telangana Congress MPs and TRS MPs tried to stall the proceedings on the statehood issue. On Thursday, Pranab Mukherjee summoned them to his chambers and gave them a dressing down. The MPs, however, claimed that they gave it back to Mukherjee in equal measure, saying that the Congress should understand the sensibilities of the people of Telangana. From Monday, the MPs want to resume their agitation though of one their colleagues, Manda Jagannadham, is under treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for a heartrelated problem. "We are committed to continuing our agitation," said Karimnagar MP P Prabhakar and hoped that the TRS too would join them.
