HYDERABAD: In the wake of allegations levelled against the Congress party and the state government by the YSR Congress party in connection with the ongoing CBI probe into Jagan’s assets case, senior Congress leaders on Wednesday asserted that their party has no intention to fix late YSR’s son in the case.It was for the government to decide whether to file a counter affidavit or not on an issue which was before the High Court, they said.Former APCC chief D Srinivas, talking to newsmen on the Assembly premises, made it clear that every decision taken by the government would not come before the cabinet and it all depends on the issues concerned.‘’Collective responsibility of the cabinet was just an understanding, and the files pertaining to departmentwise decisions would circulate only between the chief minister and the minister concerned. In general, decisions relating to land allotments would come before the cabinet for approval. It was not correct to say that Congress government was trying to fix Jagan in the case.Blaming Congress and the government was not correct since they have no role to play in the decisions taken by the judiciary,’’ he noted.Another senior Congress leader and MLA JC Diwakar Reddy also found fault with the YSR Congress leaders’ allegations against the Congress and the state government in Jagan’s case.It is not correct to blame the government for the decisions taken by individuals (referring to late YSR) who were in power at that time.Neither the government nor the party was trying to prove Jagan as guilty‘Blackmailing’ has become a part in politics, he remarked.Meanwhile, former minister T Jeevan Reddy who had worked in the YSR Cabinet, came in support of Jagan. There would be no case against Jagan if the government feels that the previous cabinet headed by YSR had not committed any ‘mistake’.In reality, the ruling party had fallen into the trap laid by opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu, he said.CBI enquiry was going on because of government’s failure to respond to allegations levelled against YSR.“Why did the state government not file a counter writ petition in the court if it feels that the YSR cabinet had not indulged in corrupt practices? If anybody tries to malign YSR then it will affect the entire Congress party,’’ he warned.
