MYSORE: With the Union government planning to conduct national-level common entrance examination to candidates aspiring to join medical course from next academic year, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the state government has decided to appeal to the Centre to exempt the state for two years from the entrance test to prepare its students for the test.He was speaking after inaugurating the MRI and CT scan facilities and the development works at K R Hospital, at a cost of Rs 26.8 crore, here on Sunday. He said that the government would need two years exemption as it would help train students to compete in the national entrance test. Gowda said that he would meet Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad in this regard and convince him to grant exemption and would also seek the Central funds for the development of 10 medical colleges and hospitals, including Mysore, Hubli, Bellary and Bangalore.Reiterating that the government has identified health as priority sector along with education and infrastructure, he said that the government is encouraging PPP model as it alone cannot develop these sectors. He said the government has taken up 105 works at the cost of Rs 80,945 crore under PPP model to create basic infrastructures across the state. He said that his office extended CM’s relief fund to more than 250 people.Announcing that the government plans to set up one more unit of Jayadeva Cardiac Care other than upgrading facilities at Chaluvamba and P K Sanatorium, he said that the government has set aside Rs 2,428 crore to health and Rs 826 crore to medical education this year.
