CM releases book on Rajiv Gandhi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rajiv Gandhi was an eminent leader who made great strides in the development of the country, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.  Speaking after releasing ‘Rajiv Gandhi - Oru Soorya Thejasinte Ormaku’ penned by Thalekkunnil Basheer and published by Priyadarsini Publications, he said that the country had witnessed memorable achievements in the science and technology sectors during his five-year tenure as Prime Minister.      Rajiv Gandhi will ever remain in the hearts of the people of the country, said KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala. The book is a fitting tribute to the departed leader, he added.M M Hassan delivered the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial lecture. Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, M M Jacob, Thalekunnil Basheer, former Chief Secretary C P Nair and Vilakkudi Rajendran spoke. M R Thampan welcomed the gathering and N K VIjayakumar paid a vote of thanks.
