KOCHI: The Central Institute of Fisheries and Technology will officially launch Edible Oyster (Crassostrea madrasensis) a peptide-based neutraceutical, OPex, at a function to be held at CIFT here on Thursday. Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) S Ayyapan will launch the product.OPex is a 100 per cent natural blend of oyster peptides and oyster protein concentrate that has been scientifically proven to possess several bioactivities, as witnessed in experiments conducted at the state-of-the-art-laboratories of Biochemistry and Nutrition Division. Oysters are a good source of high quality, easily digestible protein and essential amino acids of high score. Hence they are considered to be highly beneficial for human health.
