New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will form a new team to probe the murder of Aarushi Talwar, the schoolgirl who was murdered at her home in Noida on May 16, 2008.
Most CBI officers working on the case have either been transferred or gone back to their parent cadre after the agency was accused of bungling the probe. The tenure of senior IPS officer Arun Kumar, who had been deputed to the CBI to probe the case, will come to an end in October.
Kumar has been sent back to his state cadre, Uttar Pradesh, after allegations that he mishandled the probe.
The decision to have a new team for the probe comes after reports that Aarushi's vaginal swab was tampered with during post-mortem.
Aarushi, 14, a student of Delhi Public School, Noida, was murdered in her Jalvayu Vihar apartment. The family's domestic help Hemraj was found murdered a day later on the terrace of the house.
