BANGALORE: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s troubles increased as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided eight premises connected to him and his family across Bangalore, Shimoga and Bellary in Karnataka on Wednesday to investigate for any quid pro quo in donations received by the NGOs headed by his family and mining clearances granted by the State government when he was chief minister.The CBI teams seized incriminating documents from the homes and offices of BS Yeddyurappa, his sons BY Raghavendra and BY Vijayendra as well as sons-in-law Sohan Kumar and Krishnaiah Shetty. The CBI had filed FIRs on the matter on Tuesday. The investigating agency also raided the premises of the South West Mining Company, Prerna Education Trust and JSW Steel Limited and seized documents. A case has not been registered against the companies yet.The CBI complaint against the accused states JSW Steel Limited, headed by Sajjan Jindal paid Rs 10 crore to an NGO controlled by relatives of Yeddyurappa. The CBI is probing whether the funds were paid as illegal gratification in exchange for mining leases. It is also probing Yeddyurappa’s role in denotifying land in the State.
