KOCHI: The CBI has registered an FIR before the Ernakulam CBI Special Court on Thursday against Biju C Valluvanadan, Preethy Anil Kumar, White Crown Apartments, Kakkanad and a mediator K A Saju Thomas from Perumbadanna, North Paravoor in connection with the irregularities in the appointment of teachers in a Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha- (DBHPS)run school. The CBI has stated that Biju C Valluvanadan, administrator and former treasurer of DBHPS, has taken Rs 4 lakh as bribe for appointing a teacher in Mahathma Gandhi Public School run by the Sabha. Judge S Vijayakumar accepted the FIR. Biju, a former state secretary of INTUC, had committed the fraud while serving as the treasurer of DBHPS. According to the FIR the amount was handed over to him at the Ernakulam Guest House in the presence of Saju. The offences alleged against the accused are criminal conspiracy, demanding and acceptance of illegal gratification and abuse of official position under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.The CBI submitted that the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy in May 2010 in connection with the appointment of a chemistry teacher in the Sabha’s school at Chottanikkara. Four posts of teachers were filled during that period. Prior to the interview, Saju Thomas approached Preethy as per the direction of Biju and demanded ` four lakhs. On May 27, 2010 the amount was handed over to Biju.The interview was held on May 29 and the appointment letter was given to Preethy after two days. The CBI said Biju had abused his official position as a public servant and accepted illegal gratification.
