HYDERABAD: Taking the probe into the alleged illegal assets of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy a step ahead, CBI personnel commenced evaluation of his ‘10- star’ palatial residence at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad on Thursday.A team of investigators along with town planning officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) went to the sprawling property in Banjara Hills to ascertain the amount spent on its construction. The palatial building constructed in a prime locality has more than 60 air-conditioned rooms.Sources said the evaluators went through every room in the house and also the terrace.“Various aspects like the material used and the cost of developing the garden are being looked into,’’ an official said. Some of the personnel remarked that the building could well be described as a ‘10-star’ facility going by the number of rooms, facilities and stateof- the-art design.Sources said the evaluation would be time-consuming as they have to assess the cost of each and every room in the house.``It may take a couple of days,’’ an official said.Senior officials of the GHMC said the CBI inspected files relating to the house to verify whether any building byelaws were violated in the construction and to tally the details provided by the MP to the CBI with the observations of the evaluators. The CBI availed the services of town planning officials consisting of Usha Rani , Mehmood and Bheem Rao and others. The building has been occupied by the owners without obtaining an occupancy certificate (OC).And OC was applied for some three months ago, but as the building was still being given finishing touches, it was not given.GHMC offcials said there were no major deviations in the building except some minor ones amounting to less than five per cent which is permissible under existing laws. The civic authority gave ground-plus-three permission for the residential building in mid 2008 when the MP’s father, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was chief minister. The land title is clear and undisputed. The owners submitted a revised plan in 2010 with minor changes. This was approved by the corporation. The building was constructed on 6,000 sq yards of land with a built-up area of 60,000 sq ft.Emerging from the MP’s residence after evaluating its value for nearly seven hours, CBI superintendent of police H Venkatesh said the evaluation would continue on Friday.
