Cash-for-Query MPs may be reinstated
Dasmunsi says political leaders are considering revoking the expulsion of MPs caught in the Cash-for-Query scam.

New Delhi: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs P R Dasmunsi on Tuesday hinted at the possibility of a joint meeting of leaders of political parties evolving a mechanism to consider revoking the expulsion of the 10 MPs, caught in the 'Cash for Query' scam.

''However, I cannot assure anything without examining and assessing the mind of the Opposition,'' he said, at a media briefing.

''Every thing is in a fluid state. Nothing has been discussed officially as yet.''

Dasmunsi disclosed that the expelled MPs had been meeting him frequently, of late, with a request to have their expulsion revoked.

''However, no positive decision in this regard has been taken so far,'' he said, adding that if the Leader of the Opposition takes the initiative to write to the Speaker in this regard, ''we could then sit together to decide what could be done.''

The Minister said that BJP's Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha V K Malhotra could talk to the Speaker in this regard on Wednesday.

''We will then be able to assess the minds of the leaders.''

Replying to a question, Dasmunsi conceded revocation of the suspension of MPs had no precedent so far. However, he said that ''anything can happen in the Lok Sabha. Parliament is supreme.''

In reply to another question, the Minister said the Congress had not discussed the matter so far. ''It is a matter concerning the Lok Sabha,'' he noted.
