CHENNAI: The CSI Redeemer Church, Anna Nagar, held its annual choral concert titled Excelsis on December 18. The concert was presented by a 50 member choir -- a 31 strong children’s choir and an 18 piece orchestra and piano.The highlight of the concert was that there was so much variety that every one who witnessed it had a tune to carry home back with them. It started with a grand and perfect rendition of Vivaldi’s Gloria and a beautiful arrangement of The First Noel set within the Pachelbel’s Canon. There were some finely sung solos from Handel’s Messiah too. The programme had moments of solemnity and then some exciting numbers rendered by the Men’s and then the Women’s choruses.Later, the children, walking around the church with decorated candles during the singing of Silent Night, gave the classical feel of a Christmas night.The choir and children together sang Santa Claus is coming to town. A christmas wish marked the end of the concert.
