Bus passengers pulled to safety

KURNOOL: Twenty-seven passengers of a Volvo bus had a miraculous escape after the bus got stuck in the Dovatincha stream at Nannur in Orvakallu mandal in Kurnool district in the early hours on Wednesday.The bus, operated by S V Travels, was crossing swollen stream on national highway 18 (Kurnool-Chittoor) when it got stuck midstream.The current was so strong that the driver could neither take the bus forward nor back.Realisng the danger, the passengers cried out for help. They broke the windshield and clambered atop the vehicle.The people of Nannur village used ropes to help the passengers reach ashoreThere was disruption of traffic on the highway for a few hours.
