Machilipatnam: A tenant farmer committed suicide by hanging himself in Pedajinjeru village residence in Krishna district here on Thursday, a police official said.
According to a police official, M Sampathrao (50), a native of Pedajinjeru village leased five acres of land for cultivation and invested huge amount cultivating it, only to suffer a loss due to crop failure.
Had had taken loans from private money lenders to cultivate his land and failed to repay these, the police official said.
The police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by his wife and his two unmarried daughters, the police official said.
