New Delhi: All India Tennis Association on Monday confirmed that the April 7-9 Davis Cup tie against Paksitan would be held at Cricket Club of India's Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

"We have decided to hold it at CCI. We will be writing to International Tennis Federation today," AITA Secretary General Anil Khanna said.

The decision was made after an AITA panel including Khanna visited the stadium over the weekend and assessed the suitability of the venue.

Captain Leander Paes had checked out the facilities and conveyed his 'no objection' to the AITA a few days ago.

Khanna said an AITA team would soon start the ground work for marking and laying of the courts at the historic cricket ground located not far from Gateway of India.

The match courts are to be laid at the northern end of the ground with the club's premises to be used as gallery on one side and temporary seating arrangements to be erected on the other three sides.

Practice courts will be laid beyond the seating area on either side of the match courts.

India and Pakistan would be meeting only for the sixth time in the Cup history and for the first time since 1973 when they last played at a neutral venue, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

The two countries would be playing in a first round relegation play-off of the Asia-Oceania Group 1 after India lost the first round promotional tie to Korea and Pakistan to Chinese Taipei.
