Bangalore: It’s the 16-year-long battle for water that is creating ripples across Karnataka. Several groups staged demonstrations in different parts of Banaglore on Thursday, protesting the verdict given by the Cauvery Tribunal’s on sharing of river waters.

Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists staged a demonstration at the Mysore bank circle. The activists marched with 40 goats with placards carrying names of 40 Lok Sabaha and Rajya Sabha MP's from Karnatata.

Activists said since these 40 members were being made scapegoats in the entire issue, their condition as a mute spectator is like that of an animal.

While the atmosphere in Bangalore is still charged with anti-Karnad sentiment, not everyone is supporting such strong emotional outbursts.

On MG road in the heart of the city, another faction of activists staged a semi-naked demonstration. They insisted they were willing to go to any length but would not release any more water to Tamil Nadu.

All the fifty activists were held by the police ob charges of protesting without permission. The security has been alerted in Bangalore and the neighbouring Mysore and Mandya districts.

In the turbulent times that Karnataka is facing, most of Karnad’s well-wishers fear just about anything might infuriate the mob and disturb the calm waters of the Cauvery.

What's your reaction?
