BANGALORE:  On the eve of Independence Day, more than one and half lakh people visited the flower show organised at the Lalbagh Botanical Garden. With the closing day of the flower show being a day away, the Organisers expect the visitor count to go up.“On Independence Day, we expect many more visitors. The flower show will have more school children participating tomorrow”, said Dr Jagadish, the Organiser of the flower show at Lalbagh.Organised biannually by the Department of Horticulture, the botanical garden has a 23-foot floral Bahai Lotus Temple inside the Glass House.With 265 varieties of flowers and two lakh carnations, the flower show is a definite destination for most people during the long weekend.When asked about some special arrangements that have been made this year, Dr Jagadish described the new section consisting of 45 varieties of Ooty flowers and a mega floral arrangement in the centre.Preparing for Independence DayThe flower show closes on Independence Day and the organisers plan to replace fading flowers with new ones before Monday. P Hemalatha, Director of Horticulture has already said that security arrangements will be tightened in order to be prepared for any untoward incidents.When asked about organising special programmes for Independence Day, Dr  Jagadish said that no specific programmes have been organised. With the organisers making around Rs 1.09 crores, they say that this year, at the end of the show, they expect a quick bloom in the revenue collection.
