One dead and six injured as ULFA militants carry out series of grenade attacks. Death toll since Thursday reaches six.

Guwahati: Bomb explosions triggered by suspected ULFA militants on Saturday killed one person and injured eight others in Guwahati, Sibsagar, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts.

Six people have died in explosions in the state since Thursday. One person was killed and two others injured on Saturday when a grenade was thrown on the Ganeshguri flyover near the state secretariat in Dispur, said a police officer.

An ULFA militant hurled a grenade at the Railway Protection Force headquarters in the Bamunimaidan, Guwahati, and injured three constable.

Militants in Upper Assam's Sibsagar district triggered threw grenades on Saturday evening at a CRPF camp and injured three personnel, police said.

The next explosion took place in the high-security zone between the Deputy Commissioner's residence and the Circuit House at Sibsagar and the third took place at Kunwarpur in the heart of the town.

There was, however, no injury in these two blasts. A blast damaged an oil pipeline at Langkasi in Tinsukia district. The damage was being assessed, the sources said.

Yet another blast damaged another pipeline at Makum in Dibrugarh district, the sources said.

Earlier in the day, a powerful time bomb concealed in a tiffin box was defused in the Panbazar area here, while a bomb planted on the tracks exploded just before the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express was to pass last night.

For the last three days, the ULFA has been carrying out the explosions targetting mainly policemen and oil pipelines.
