In a meeting held by Bihar's former chief minister Nitish Kumar with Jitan Ram Manjhi at Anne Marg in Patna on Tuesday the names of the new cabinet ministers were finalised. Senior JD(U) leader Vashisht Narayan Singh was also present in the meeting.
As the new cabinet list was out, it was observed that no major change has been introduced by the party. Only three new names have been added to the list. The new minsters, namely Dulalchand Goswami, Vinay Bihari and Lesi Singh, were sworn in after the oath ceremony of CM Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Analysts believe that it seems like Nitish wants to retain the functioning of the state government by planting Jitan and be the decision maker of the JD(U) even after stepping down from his position. The new cabinet appears to be an old wine packed in a new bottle.
Stating moral grounds and taking responsibility for the poll debacle, Nitish had resigned as the chief minister of the state two days back. Jitan, being a close aide, will just be a stooge in Nitish's hand, say analysts.
BJP had called Nitish's resignation a "scripted drama" and an attempt to save his leadership in the JD(U) amidst a growing clamour against him within the party.
