BANGALORE: The Cauvery may flow placid in Karnataka, but the war of words between JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda and CID DGP Shankar Bidari acquired a higher pitch in the state capital on Friday.Addressing the media that he had not filed a case against Gowda to get posted as the DG & IGP of the state, Bidari said, “I have been informed that Gowda has formed a team under the leadership of one of his confidants to scrutinise the 40 years of my public service to find out whether I have committed any wrong. If this is correct, I welcome the move.” He was reacting to the allegations made by Gowda and his son H D Kumaraswamy in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Upper Krishna Project. “The allegations are false and baseless,” he said. “Appointing me as the DG & IGP is the prerogative of the government. I have never sought unfair means to get any posting and will never do so for the rest of my career.”He vehemently denied that the case was foisted against Gowda at former CM B S Yeddyurappa’s behest. “Gowda and Kumaraswamy are issuing threats and wild allegations just because I have discharged my duties in a bona fide manner according to the government order. No one has been mentioned in the FIR as accused. The accused column clearly mentions that the accused are yet to be identified.”    He continued: “Gowda, who was chief minister during 1995-96 at the time of releasing Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu, is well aware how I staked my life and brought information on water availability, when even PWD and state intel officers were unable to do so.”
