The state capital on Thursday sizzled with mercury level touching 43.7 degree Celsius, the highest in Odisha, as the local Met office predicted severe heat wave condition for another one week.

The state capital on Thursday sizzled with mercury level touching 43.7 degree Celsius, the highest in Odisha, as the local Met office predicted severe heat wave condition for another one week.

The heat wave conditions will prevail in Odisha till May 18." Thereafter the conditions may worsen for the next four days, the Met office said in a release.

Bhubaneswar was followed by coastal Chandabali with 43.5 degree C and 43 degree C at Titlagarh with as many as 16 different districts having experienced temperature above 40 degree C.

While Balasore recorded 41.2 degree C, it was 41.6 dc at Baripada, 41.9 at Angul, 41.5 at Jharsuguda, 42.4 at Keonjhargarh, 41.2 at Sambalpur, 41.2 at Hirakud, 41.5 at Bhawanipatna and 41.6 at Balangir.

Meanwhile the special relief commissioner's office has received 69 complaints relating to the sunstroke while 17 cases have been confirmed due to heat stroke.
