BANGALORE: The desilting of storm water drains on 3rd ‘B’ Main Road, Koramangala 8th block proved to be a nightmare for all recently, as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) touched new heights of unprofessionalism. The officials used up residents’ water supply for the entire desilting process and they now bear the brunt of extreme water shortage. “Irregular power and water supply is a norm in this area. We always end up buying water from private suppliers every month. On day 1, they had requested us to give some water and we obliged. However, this turned out to be a regular scene. They used up four barrels of water the last day,” said Ashvitha Ashok Shetty, a resident.Peter Smith, another resident said, “We are left wondering: Why take up desilting work at all if they are incapable of supplying water for the same? We spent close to six hundred rupees this month on water.” However Jagannath, Executive Engineer BBMP was extremely unhappy with the whole situation. He raised concerns over the lackadaisical attitude of the contractor and promised to look into the matter. “Lack of supervision has probably lead to this situation. And, it is completely unacceptable. I will visit the area tomorrow and try my level best to address all the issues,” said Engineer Jagannath.Akshata ShettyThe desilting of storm water drains on 3rd ‘B’ Main Road, Koramangala 8th block proved to be a nightmare for all recently, as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) touched new heights of unprofessionalism.
