Bangalore: As usual, girls outperformed boys in the Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations, the results of which were declared on Saturday. Most of the schools in the city that are affiliated to the ICSE and ISC boards have registered cent per cent results.

With 97.28 per cent, Bhargav Ramakrishna Reddy topped the class 10 exams at Bethany High School in Koramangala. Surprisingly, Bhargav claims that he did not put in a lot of hard work. "In fact, I overslept and played cricket before the exams," he laughs. However, he said he had a tough time studying History, while Mathematics and Physics were easy.

Ranjitha Guttapadu, a student of New Horizon Public School, secured 96.86 per cent in class 10. She said she was not a 'nerd' as she had equal focus on co-curricular activities. "My teachers and tutor were very supportive and made Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics easy. Revising everyday after school was the key," said Ranjitha.

Meghna Suresh from Sri Vani Education Centre, Rajajinagar topped her school with 96.14 per cent. "I am happy, as I had no expectations whatsoever," she said, adding that Mathematics was her favourite subject.

A total of 1,32,282 students appeared for the ICSE examination, while 59,356 students took the ISC examination. With a pass percentage of 99.15 per cent, girls have overtaken boys in the ICSE exam.

The same is with the ISC examination, where girls outdid boys with a pass percentage of 98.35 per cent.

"I am happy I made this choice (ISC). I had to prepare for other entrance exams as well, and I would spend nearly 5-6 hours a day," said Tanmayee Narendra, the class 12 topper at Bethany High School with 94 per cent in Science.
