Balakrishna maybe inducted into TDP politburo

HYDERABAD: The stage appears to be set for cine actor Nandamuri Balakrishna to take part in active politics. When the Telugu Desam  reconstitutes its Politburo in May this year, his name may be considered.“As of now, there is no discussion in the party on inducting Balakrishna into the Politburo. We have six months’ time to reconstitute the party's apex body. There is nothing wrong in inducting Balakrishna into the Politburo,” a Politburo member told Express.It may be recalled that several members of the present Politburo, which was reconstituted in September 2009, were inactive and not attending meetings. For example, Bhimsen, Ummareddy Venkateswarulu and Nandamuri Harikrishna have been avoiding the Politburo meetings. Ummareddy is reportedly upset with party chief N Chandrababu Naidu's attitude. Harikrishna is sulking that Naidu is not giving the importance he deserves. Family feud is another reason for the chasm developing between the two. Another member Nagam Janardhan Reddy has quit the party and floated his own political outfit. A couple of other members too are irregular in attending Politburo meetings. There is talk that Naidu may replace Harikrishna with Balakrishna in the Politburo but party sources have not confirmed it.Politburo, the highest decision-making body of the party; the state committee; and other committees will be reconstituted every two years. But, due to the Telangana agitation Naidu postponed their reconstitution. Party sources said the new committee would be in place in May next during party's Mahanadu.Naidu wants to infuse young blood into the Politburo and the state committees this time to invigorate the party to keep it fighting fit  for the 2014 general election.“The politburo will be revamped in May. It is too early now to predict the probables,” senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao said. If Balakrishna was to be taken into the Politburo, no TDP leader would raise any objection to it, an MLA from Rayalaseema said.It may be recalled that Naidu's relations with Harikrishna and NTR Jr were strained. As Harikrishna was not actively participating in party activities, it was right time to drop him, another leader said. Another leader, who stands a chance to be taken into the Politburo is T Devender Goud, a senior leader from Telangana.
