In a month's time, about 100 autorickshaws in Fort Kochi will carry the stickers on AIDS prevention. Kerala State AIDS Control Society has decided to campaign against AIDS and create awareness among the public through autorickshaws which have become a mode of transport for tourists as well as common man.

The KSACS officials have planned massive campaigning on AIDS prevention across the state. As many as 1350 autorickshaws in the state will display tips on AIDS prevention. “Fort Kochi is one of the destinations selected for the project. Other places are Neyyattinkara, Kottarakkara, Punalur, Pathanamthitta, Chalakkudy, Irinjalakkuda,  Thrissur, Palakkad town, Chittoor, Kozhinjampara, Gopalapuram (Palakkad), Perumatti (Palakkad) and Meenakshipuram (Palakkad). The size of the stickers would be 30 inch X 10 inch,” a KSACS official said.

The places were selected on the basis of areas where cases of AIDS are high. “So we have decided to carry out strong campaign in these areas. More steps in this regard would be taken in the coming days,” the official said.

The cases of AIDS are high among the drivers especially autorickshaw drivers. This is another reason behind the venture.
