Many people have been affected by the ongoing floods in Assam, including the Cachar district. According to the Local 18 Assam, the flood situation has deteriorated, with vast tracts of land inundated. The flow of the Barak River has gone past the danger mark due to the breaking of the surrounding dams and heavy rainfall. 10,000 to 15,000 people have already been affected by the floods. As per the reports, the flood victims have been forced to flee their homes and take shelter in refugee camps. The natives have complained that a member of the legislative assembly from Borkhola Assembly visited the flood area. As per the natives, the Katigorah MLA did not arrive to take stock of the situation in the flood-affected area. The natives were also infuriated that the water resources department had opted for the rainy season to repair the fam. It further aggravated the problems being faced by them. The Barak River is flowing above the danger mark at AP Ghat, BP Ghat, Chota Bakra and Fuletrak.
