Meanwhile, Assam government has reacted to Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal's recent statement that the Centre had released Rs 207 crore for flood relief to the state this year.

The state government clarified that the Central funds of Rs 207 crore released to the state government by the Centre was only the first installment of the current year's central allocation of Rs 414 crore available under the State Disaster Response Funds.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi accused the Union minister, a native of Assam, of not pressurising the Centre to release the due fund to the state to meet the emergent situation and also for continuation of Special Category Status to the NE states, the release added.
