CHENNAI: At the 42nd anniversary celebrations of the Nungambakkam Cultural Academy Trust and the inauguration of the annual Fine Arts Festival, veteran dramatist KS Nagarajan was honoured with the Life Time Achievement Award. Various other artistes were also conferred titles at the Rama Rao Mantap (Karnataka Sangha), along with Nagarajan. The Sangeetha Kalasiromani Award was presented to Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam while Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala won the Nrithya Kalasiromani and Kovai Anuradha was presented the Nataka Kalasiromani. C Nagarajan, General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank and A Natarajan, Former Director, Chennai Doordarshan, were felicitated. G Srinivasan, Chairman, United India Insurance, who inaugurated the festival, said, “Music and art are essential to make a man complete. It must not only be a hobby for older audiences, but must be made in a way to attract youngsters also.” He added, “Arts is necessary to shape our kids as complete individuals.” The Fine Arts Festival will go on for a period of 32 days, ending on January 8, 2012. With over 150 programmes lined up, the festival will have performances from artistes including OS Theagarajan, Sanjay Subramanian, KJ Yesudas, O S Arun, Nithyasree Mahadevan and Padma Subrahmanyam among others.
