Dubai: Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh, who is reported to be suffering from fever and can move only in a wheel-chair, cancelled all his engagements for Tuesday and is flying back to India as per schedule.
Singh, who began a four-day visit to the UAE on arrival from Saudi Arabia, held discussions with UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Minister of Education, Hanif Hassan Ali on bilateral ties in the field of education.
He also visited the Dubai Knowledge Village on Monday, a campus which has various international educational institutions including a number of Indian colleges.
He met the principals of various Indian schools and heads of higher educational institutions like the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS-Pilani), SP Jain Centre of Management, Mahatma Gandhi University and Manipal University.
However, participants described Singh’s address to over 50 principals of Indian schools as a mere protocol-filling exercise.
There are 90,000 students pursuing Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus in the UAE.
