HYDERABAD: Both chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana are determined to weed out Jagan loyalists from all levels of the Congress.Though chief minister gave an indication to this exercise at the cabinet meeting held here on Thursday, the two leaders, later at Gandhi Bhavan, were categorical that the process of weeding the rebels out and encouraging young blood in their places should begin.According to sources, the two leaders made their intentions clear to a dozen ministers, who attended a programme at Gandhi Bhavan on drawing up programmes to promote awareness among people on government initiatives. Chief minister asked the ministers to draw a list of village, mandal and district level leaders whose heart is still with Jagan so that the party could show them the gate and encourage new talent. At the cabinet meeting earlier in the day the issue came up when a few ministers complained that participation by party leaders in the Education Fortnight celebrations was poor. Reacting to this, the chief minister wanted identification of the places in each district where the party was weak either due to the domination by opposition MLAs or because some Congress leaders were still sailing with Jagan.Kiran Kumar Reddy said that where the opposition was strong youth should be given leadership in the Congress to counter them. In the case of Jagan loyalists, it is to be assessed whether they are hardcore loyalists or amenable to change of heart. If n the case of those who are not out-and-out Jagan supporters, a dialogue will be opened to wrench them from the Kadapa MP’s spell. When the scarcity of cotton seeds came for discussion, transport minister and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana made his displeasure known over the inability of the collectors to make available the brand of Bt cotton seeds farmers are seeking the most. “Initially, the collectors had told me that they would make all brands of the seed available to farmers in plenty but now they are saying that the brand most in demand is in short supply and that they will supply seeds of other companies. The collectors should have told me about this earlier. After 20 days they are expressing helplessness,” the PCC president commented. At one stage, labour minister Danam Nagendar complained to the chief minister that no officer was paying attention to ministers and sought his intervention. That was the reason why he had reshuffled IAS officers, Kiran Kumar told the minister.
