WARANGAL: A 21-year-old MBA student set himself afire infront of Arts and Science college of Kakatiya varsity, Warangal on Saturday. Around 4 pm on Saturday, Bhojya Naik is believed to have doused himself in petrol on the rear side of the college and set himself ablaze. Engulfed in flames, the youth shouted 'Jai Telangana' slogans and ran towards the front side even as passers-by looked in shock.A couple of students rushed to him and tried to extinguish the flames but Naik collapsed on the ground. He was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial hospital where doctors tried for four and a half hours to save his life but could not.In his dying declaration to mandal revenue officer, Bhojya Naik said that he set himself on fire because formation of a separate Telangana state was becoming delayed due to Congress and TDP leaders.Learning of the incident, TRS cadres and leaders rushed to hospital.The Kakatiya University Joint Action Committee and the TRS have called for the district bandh on Sunday.Naik, a second-year MBA student, hailed from Eerla hamlet in Aswaraopalli in Raghunadhapalli mandal. He had been active in Tmovement and campaigned for TRS candidate T Rajaiah in Station Ghanpur constituency in recently bypoll. His father, Nama Naik, told reporters that his son had been telling him that he would get a good job once Telangana state was formed.
