Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dr G Parameshwar has appealed to the State Government to release the required funds to complete the Metro work and bring the traffic woes in the city to an end. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the KPCC leader recalled the contribution of former chief minister S M Krishna towards the realisation of the Bangalore Metro project. The idea of Metro rail was originally proposed by S M Krishna’s government in the state, for which the Centre had released Rs. 3,000 crore, the KPCC leader said.  While congratulating all the stakeholders,  he urged the authorities to take all measures to complete the remaining phases.  The reach 1 which would be throw open for public from Thursday will be another feather in IT city’s cap, he said.Public not allowed on high-rises The city police have issued directions to high-rise buildings along the Reach 1 route to restrict public from climbing on to terraces to click pictures of the Metro rail. These directions came in the wake of tightened security measures ahead of the grand launch of the city’s first  Metro train facility.  With a high-profile delegation from Delhi set to arrive in the city for the inauguration, the police have enforced measures to exercise caution.  High-rises and shops along CMH Road have been given strict orders not to allow anyone to gather in huge numbers on the terraces or click photographs, a statement said.‘Metro, a DIWALI gift to state, bangalore’“Metro is a Diwali gift to the people of Karnataka and Bangalore city in particular,” Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has said. He said he was apprehensive that there would be delay in the launch of Metro rail but he was happy that the reach 1 of the project was completed. The chief minister said, “The encouragement of the people will enable the government to complete the remaining project well in time.”‘It’s a Dream Project’Bangalore South MP and BJP General Secretary H N Ananthkumar has called Namma Metro a ‘dream project’. Tracing the journey of the project as it went through a number of hurdles with changes in the political leadership over the years in the state and Centre, he said the idea of Bangalore Metro project was conceived by him in 2001 when he was the Union urban development minister.
