KOCHI: Anoop Jacob, a novice in politics, is all enthusiastic for his debut battle at Piravom.Son of the late minister T M Jacob, Anoop feels that the love people had for his late father and the development activities undertaken by the UDF will help him win.Anoop shares with City Express his dreams for a new Piravom, the possibility of an entry to the State Assembly and his campaign trail.“All through my campaign, I could see that the people want to sustain the UDF Government.I understood that the public wants me to win so that the projects conceived by T M Jacob can be completed,” he says.An emotional Anoop says that his father had launched a series of developmental activities in the constituency and his priority would be to complete those projects.“The love people had for my father will surely reflect in the outcome.I have full faith in the people and am confident of a win with a huge margin,” he notes.Stating that the people will exercise their franchise after evaluating the development works undertaken by the UDF in the constituency for the past many years, Anoop adds that the people, however, will give more priority to the survival of nine-month-old Oommen Chandy Government.“Like what the Chief Minister said, the people will surely vote for good governance. They will definitely compare the work of the former LDF Government with that of the present government,” Anoop says.On the Sindhu Joy and Selvaraj issues, Jacob says his only focus is on the development of the constituency.“All these issues are widely discussed but my focus is mainly on the development of the constituency and the welfare of the people,” he says.On his dreams for Piravom, he says: “Though the UDF has done a lot for the development of Piravom, there is still a lot more left to be done like better roads and execution of drinking water projects.Piravom is an agrarian area and hence the development of farm sector will be my priority.” Anoop’s idea is decadelong development plan for Piravom. So what are his priorities if he becomes a minister? Far-sighted development, Anoop sums up.While pointing out that he was a novice and his opponent LDF candidate M J Jacob a veteran in politics, he says: “Many people want a new man to represent them in the Assembly. They want the UDF Government to complete a full term.” According to Anoop, the friction between the Orthodox and Jacobite factions will not affect the prospects of the UDF in the polls.“My aim is to carry everyone along with me,” he adds with confidence
