NEDUMBASSERY: K J Yesudas will inaugurate the 12th annual celebrations of Janaseva Sisubhavan, a shelter for street children, at Janaseva Boy’s Home in Madurapuram near here, on Sunday. The annual meeting will be presided over by Jose Mavely at 2 pm. Sisubhavan chairperson Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Dr Tony Fernandez, Cochin Shipyard Deputy General Manager M D Varghese, Janapaksham State Convener Benny Joseph and legal advisor Charley Paul will speak on the occasion.Janaseva Sisubhavan is a social institution launched under the initiative of Jose Mavely and personal guidance of former District Collector K R Rajan.The Janaseva Sisubhavan was founded to save street children from exploitation and torture especially by begging mafia. The Sisubhavan which began at Dessom in a small setting in 1999 shifted to a new building in Settlement Compound near UC College, Aluva where 300 children can be catered to. The home in Madurapuram in Nedumbassery panchayat can accommodate more than 300 boys. Children can make use of the football ground, volleyball court, basketball court and swimming pool in the compound. The inmates are provided with education and training in various sports and games to help them merge with the mainstream of society.Many inmates have secured selection in various state and district teams in different disciplines and have been winning accolades.
