New Delhi: History repeated itself on the reality television show MTV Roadies 8 'Shortcut to hell' after five years, as a girl emerged as the winner of MTV Roadies 8. After Parul Shahi who won in 2005, Anchal Khurana is the second female Roadies winner.
The finale started with three Roadies contestants - Mohit, Suchit and Anchal, fighting it out for the winner's position. Suchit, who was voted as the viewer's choice Roadies winner on MTV Roadies' official Facebook page, could not make it to the final two, which disappointed many Facebook fans, and the elimination even resulted in Suchit trending on Twitter. But as the symbol of appreciation, he was given a Karizma ZMR by the team of Roadies 8.
Thereafter, the final showdown was between Anchal and Mohit, and the finale came down to a vote-in by ex-Roadies and contestants from previous seasons of the hit show. Anchal swept nine votes of the ten and many of the contestants who voted for her said that they voted for Anchal as they wanted a girl to win Roadies 8.
Anchal who came as a simple girl for the Roadies 8 auditions said on the show that she wanted to prove to her family, who is conservative, that even girls can be strong and fight it out. She was voted out with Renee on the show, but returned to the show as a wild card entry.
After that, there was no looking back for Anchal. She fought her way through performing tasks, and surviving vote-outs and became the winner of Roadies 8. Anchal, as the winner of the show, got Rs.4,00,000 collected by the contestants on the show, by performing tasks, and also a Hero Honda Karizma ZMR bike.
The show's anchor Rannvijay and the makers of the show Raghu Ram and Rajiv Ram congratulated Anchal on her win at the end of the show and for getting the votes from her friends among ex-Roadies and contestants from previous Roadies seasons.
