London: Director Pradeep Sarkar and Yashraj Films have cast Amitabh Bachchan, his wife Jaya and son Abhishek in their forthcoming film — the first time the trio will be seen together in a movie.
"My wife Jaya, Abhishek and I will act in Pradeep Sarkar's next film," Bachchan said in an interview on Wednesday.
Though Amitabh and Abhishek have appeared together in several films, as have Amitabh and Jaya, the trio has never been seen together in a movie.
Sarkar's movie, which is as yet untitled and is being produced by Yashraj Films, is scheduled to go on the floors in the next few days. Its first schedule will be shot shortly in the holy city of Varanasi.
The film also stars other big Bollywood stars like Rani Mukherjee and Shabana Azmi, industry sources said in Mumbai.
Sarkar's debut film Parineeta (2005), which starred Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan, was a huge hit with both audiences and critics. The new film is expected to be released late next year.
