KOLLAM: The Medical Superintendent of the ESIC Model and Super-Speciality Hospital, Asramam, said in a press statement that the apprehensions raised through the media by a section of candidates about the fairness of recruitment process to various categories of para-medical posts in its hospitals in the state on November 13, is suspected to be handiwork of ‘appointment mafia’. The mafia seems to have created a notion among the candidates that the recruitment process was through back-door and approach them offering appointments on payment of hefty sums, the statement said. Allaying fears of the candidates and warning them against being cheated by the mafia, the statement said that the selection process was fair and transparent and the rank list is solely on the basis of performance in written examination and interview. As many as 27,203 candidates have appeared in the examination held at different centres in the state. The OMR sheets of the exam are under valuation, which is done very confidently. Once the valuation is completed the rank list will be prepared on the basis of the number of vacancies and it will be published through print and electronic media, the statement said.
