The main accounts of these granite majors with branches of State Bank of India and Indian Bank in Madurai have also been frozen. Officials have been collecting details of all transactions made by these firms. “We have collected the audit reports of the granite firms from their personal auditors. We have to peruse the records,” an official said. Details pertaining to granite exported by these companies were also being gathered from the Customs Department. A senior police officer said that the second status report on illegal quarrying in the region will be submitted before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on August 31. Meanwhile, police issued summons to 10 officials, some of them retired, of the Tamil Nadu Minerals Limited (TAMIN) in connection with the illegal quarrying cases. In a related development, police inspected the explosives storage facilities of PRP Exports at Erumaippatti.
